1. Remind yourself that your present determines your future.
Your present is the determining factor on what your future will look like.
I know for myself, I can very easily get caught up in the worries of the future, whether that’s in 10 minutes time or 10 years’ time. But by grounding myself with reminders that the only thing I am in control of is the 'now', is the most freeing and enlightening thing that I will continue to implement and practice in my life and business.
What you choose to do with your now is the most important decision you will make and continue to make.
“Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift”. —Oprah
The power for creating a better future is contained in the present moment, rather than worrying about something that does not actually exist, put your energy into your current choices. Be bold and enjoy the present, because that is all we are guaranteed.
2. Give love freely.
Giving Love freely does not justify bad behaviour, nor does it excuse it. Giving love freely does not mean love without limits or bounds. It means, “I offer you my love without any conditions”.
I choose to offer my love and understanding to everybody that I can. This does not mean that I am perfect, because sometimes I fail. I’m human. But my aim, my goal, is to accept everyone, as we are all in different stages of life. We are also all imperfect beings trying to figure this crazy world. Everybody is on a journey, and in some way or another we all want to feel loved and accepted.
Try to practice the art of letting go and consciously allow love to replace the toxic energy that can easily arrive.
Remember that love is free, it is priceless, and it is powerful.
3. Change your thoughts, change your world
You are only one thought away from happiness, you’re only one thought away from sadness. The secret lies in thought.
The most powerful realisation that I have personally come too, was the realisation that my thoughts were just that ‘thoughts’. They were not reality; they were my perception of reality. We are always thinking and creating our experiences through thought.
My depression was caused by my thinking of the past, my anxiety was caused by my thoughts of the future. My mental health revolved around thought.
If we practiced the thoughts that we poured energy into and were conscious about what we ruminated on, our lives would change.
‘He suddenly saw that his insecurity was coming from his own thoughts, and not from anything in his past or present circumstances.’
4. No more comparisons
Comparison is the thief of joy.
It’s time to stop comparing your life, your job, your ideas, your relationships, your assets. Everything. Stop.
Comparing your worst with somebody else’s best is not going to get you anywhere. In fact, it will only prevent you.
One thing I am a strong advocate for is that we are the only people that we are in control of. Focusing on others and what they are doing or achieving is a waste of our precious energy. Put that energy into either changing your perception on what you think you ‘need’ or actually stop ruminating and take action to make your 'wants' a reality.
Don’t doubt yourself and your skillsets. We are all capable of greatness.
5. To hold back will cost you everything
Greatness is inside every one of us.
We all have skills, talents and hobbies for a reason. We can all make a difference, but it’s choosing to believe that, which is key.
Sometimes I step back and just observe the people on my path. I unknowingly ask myself questions.. Are they happy? Are they challenging themselves or are they comfortable?
I often come up with conclusions in my mind of what I believe their situation to be... Maybe my perception is true, maybe it’s not.
That is beside the point.
The point is… My thoughts of people living a predictable life where they are no longer challenging themselves and their beliefs, sets something off inside me. We all have capabilities that goes beyond our limiting belief system. Every part of my being wants to see the people I encounter excited, passionate, challenging themselves and crafting up their goals.
—To hold yourself back out of fear, is to silence the dreamer inside of you. We have dreams and ambitions for a reason. I beg of you to take a step of faith, try. Failure is nothing but a lesson.
